The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has described the Federal Government’s flagship road projects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as strategic investments designed to transform Nigeria’s infrastructure and economy for generations.
Umahi made the remark during an inspection of federal road projects in the South-East, including works in Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
According to the minister, the administration’s four major legacy road projects are interconnected and are being constructed with reinforced concrete to ensure durability that could last up to one hundred years with minimal maintenance.
He said the projects represent a shift from temporary asphalt roads to stronger and more sustainable infrastructure capable of supporting long-term national development.
Umahi also urged critics of the administration to engage constructively, advising political opponents to reflect on their past records before questioning the current government’s performance.
The minister further provided updates on the Dangote Tax Credit road project, explaining that the project has been restructured to deliver 69 kilometres of reinforced concrete road connecting Afikpo, Uturu, and Okigwe.
He added that the project forms part of a broader national infrastructure network that will eventually link major economic corridors, including the Calabar–Abuja highway route.
Umahi expressed confidence that the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure agenda will significantly improve connectivity, boost economic activities, and leave a lasting legacy across the country.
