BREAKING: BENUE ASSEMBLY SUSPENDS EX-SPEAKER

The immediate past Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh, has been suspended for three months over allegations of attempting to mislead members of the Assembly.

His suspension followed a motion moved by the lawmaker representing Kyan State Constituency, Terna Shimawua, and seconded by James Umoru of Apa State Constituency. Shimawua, who raised the motion, was among lawmakers suspended last week by Dajoh before his resignation as Speaker.

Ruling on the motion, the new Speaker, Alfred Emberga, reduced Dajoh’s suspension from six months to three months.

Meanwhile, the Assembly has confirmed controversial nominee Associate Professor Ornguga, alongside other candidates previously rejected.

In a related development, lawmakers also lifted the suspension earlier placed on the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and two other government officials.
