DSS TO INVESTIGATE FEDERAL HIGH COURT, IKOYI INCIDENT

The Department of State Services, DSS, says the incident of 25th July, 2023 at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos during the arraignment of suspended Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, that took place between its staff and those of the Nigerian Correctional Service is unfortunate and does not in any way reflect the professional disposition of the agency.
In a press statement, Public Relations Officer of the DSS, Peter Afunanya, said the DSS would never encourage the incident kind of incident that took place at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Afunaya stated that Service has tremendous respect for the Judiciary as an Arm and Institution of Government and will not go out of its way to undermine it, adding that the Service recognises the Judiciary as a critical component in nation-building, national development and security management.
The DSS spokesperson stated that the Service has robust working relationship with sister security and law enforcement agencies, including the Nigerian Correctional Service.
