HOUSE COMMITTEE ON SPORTS APPLAUDS SUPER FALCONS ON EARLY QUARTERFINAL QUALIFICATION.

The House of Representatives Committee on Sports has congratulated the Super Falcons on their impressive performance at the ongoing 2025 African Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where they became the first team to secure a place in the quarterfinals.

The nine-time champions kicked off their Group B campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Tunisia, followed by a hard-fought 1-0 win against Botswana on Thursday. With two wins from two matches, Nigeria has already booked a spot in the tournament’s last eight.

Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu, praised the team’s performance and expressed confidence in their ability to reclaim the continental title last won in 2018.

He further emphasized the unwavering support of Nigerians for the team.

The Super Falcons will play their final group stage match against Algeria on Sunday, July 13, 2025. While their quarterfinal opponent is yet to be determined, the knockout matches are scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

Hon. Amadu concluded by applauding the team’s depth and quality, expressing optimism that the current squad can restore Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.
