NAICOM, SEC STRENGTHEN TIES ON INSURANCE REFORMS.

The Commissioner for Insurance, Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, has visited the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Emomotimi Agama, at the SEC headquarters in Abuja.

Agama described the visit as timely, congratulating NAICOM on the enactment of the Nigeria Insurance Industry Reform Act 2025, recently signed into law by President Bola Tinubu. He said the legislation marks a new dawn for the insurance sector and will drive key reforms across the financial services industry.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Insurance, Olusegun Ayo Omosehin  said the ongoing recapitalization of insurance companies is now a legal requirement under the new Act. He explained that the reform aims to strengthen institutions, reposition the sector for growth, and ensure improved service delivery.

The SEC boss assured NAICOM of full support, pledging technical guidance and stressing the need for insurance operators to embrace digitalization for greater efficiency.
