The National Sports Commission (NSC) has played a pivotal role in securing the participation of Team Nigeria (represented by Nigeria University Games Association – NUGA) at the 2025 FISU World University Games, set to take place in Germany from July 16 to 21.
With 32 student-athletes and 10 officials making up the NUGA delegation, Nigeria will proudly compete in five sporting disciplines: athletics, badminton, table tennis, judo, and taekwondo.
Speaking on the development, Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to youth and school sports.
According the commission, This year’s Games mark another opportunity for Nigeria’s vibrant student-athletes to showcase their talent on a global stage, with the NSC providing critical financial and logistical support in partnership with the Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA).
Also commenting, President of NUGA, Professor Bawa Mohammed, praised the NSC and highlighted the significance of Nigeria’s presence at the Games.
Team Nigeria’s delegation will settle in Germany ahead of the opening ceremony, with events scheduled across the six-day tournament.
