The Theatre Command, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has commenced an orientation training on Air-to-Ground Integration (AGI) for its troops in the North East theatre of operations at Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.
Inaugurating the programme, Theatre Commander Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar stressed the importance of AGI in improving military effectiveness in counterterrorism operations. He said the training was aimed at developing synergy, communication and coordination between ground forces and air assets, thereby preventing fratricide and reducing civilian harm.
“Our collective efforts in combating terrorism require a well-trained and professional force that can work in synergy with other agencies and entities,” he stated, urging participants to approach the training with humility and commitment. He noted that it was the first training of its kind under OPHK.
The Theatre Commander commended the Air Warfare and Doctrine Centre (AWDC) Training Team for their expertise and pledged continued partnership to strengthen professionalism within the theatre. He also appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede NAM, for providing strategic leadership and support for the initiative.
Earlier, the Theatre Training Officer, Brigadier General Julius Ogbobe, urged participants to be open-minded and attentive, while the AWDC representative, Wing Commander Asa Abatura, reaffirmed the facilitators’ commitment to ensuring impactful sessions. He also acknowledged the support of the Air Component Commander, Air Commodore Umar Idris, for providing aircraft for the exercise.
The training is expected to further improve the operational capabilities of OPHK troops in ongoing counterterrorism operations.
