The Nigeria Police Force has arrested six suspects in Benue State following a deadly attack on Police Tactical Teams by suspected armed herdsmen and local militias at Agu Centre, Katsina-Ala/Ukum Local Government Area.
The attack, which occurred on Friday, September 19, 2025, claimed the lives of three police officers, while seven others remain missing. The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, is leading ongoing operations to rescue the missing officers and apprehend fleeing suspects.
In a statement signed by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, condemned the attack, describing it as cruel, unwarranted, and an affront to the people of Benue State. He has directed the deployment of additional tactical units to the area to ensure swift action against the perpetrators.
The statement further said the Nigeria Police Force continues its intensified efforts to rescue the missing personnel, apprehend fleeing suspects, and dismantle the criminal networks behind the attack.
