The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) said it has paid a total of ₦55.9 billion as monthly pensions and outstanding arrears to eligible pensioners and next-of-kin under the Defined Benefits Scheme (DBS) for December 2025.
The payment includes ₦13.41 billion for monthly pensions across all pension departments, including diaspora pensioners, and ₦42.50 billion for pension arrears.
In a statement signed by the Head, Corporate Communications Unit PTAD
Olugbenga Ajayi, reveals that, The arrears cover obligations arising from the ₦32,000 pension increment, the 10.66% and 12.95% pension increases, as well as accrued arrears, gratuities, and death benefits.
Arrears Breakdown by Department:
Police Pension Department (PPD): ₦5.88 million to 5 pensioners
Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD): ₦604.33 million to 8,606 pensioners
Civil Service Pension Department (CSPD): ₦16.36 billion to 71,643 pensioners
Defunct and Transferred Agencies Department (DTAD): ₦15.07 billion to 24,995 pensioners
Parastatals Pension Department (PaPD): ₦7.81 billion to 25,718 pensioners
Tertiary Education and Health Department (TEHD): ₦2.37 billion to 28,245 pensioners
Gratuity and Death Benefits: ₦289.11 million to eligible next-of-kin
With these payments, arrears from the ₦32,000 increment have been fully cleared across all departments, except one month each outstanding for PaPD and TEHD.
The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, said the payments underscore President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR’s commitment to senior citizens under the Renewed Hope Agenda. She assured that the remaining one-month arrears for PaPD and TEHD will be cleared promptly.
