The Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria has received a delegation from the Spanish Corporation on an ongoing collaboration in aquaculture and women empowerment.
Leader of the delegation, Beatriz Navalón, said the visit was to update the Council on its partnership with the Regional Centre of Excellence in Aquaculture, which is domiciled within the ARCN.
ARCN’s Executive Secretary, management staff, and representatives of the Centre of Excellence expressed appreciation for the visit.
Coordinator of the Centre of Excellence, Dr. Charity Obetta, welcomed the collaboration, saying it is timely and beneficial to Nigerian women and youth. She said the programme strengthens the aquaculture value chain, including fish seed production, table fish production, processing, trade, and feed production.
Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr. Aliyu Shuaibu Madugu, highlighted previous programmes supported by the corporation and their contributions to agricultural development and Nigeria’s food sustainability goals.
The visit was part of ongoing efforts to deepen international partnerships in agricultural research and development.
