TRAGEDY AVERTED AS OGUN GOVERNOR RESCUES TUNISIAN ATHLETES IN CRASH.

It was a close call for members of the Tunisian delegation attending the ongoing CAA U18 and U20 African Athletics Championship in Abeokuta, as their vehicle was involved in a road traffic accident. What could have ended in tragedy was averted, thanks to the quick intervention of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The incident occurred on Saturday, July 19, while the Tunisian team was being transported from the championship venue to the Games Village. Reports indicate that the affected vehicle was not part of the official convoy, which typically includes security and support escort.

Coincidentally, Governor Dapo Abiodun was on the same route when the accident happened. Without hesitation, he stopped to assist, providing immediate help and coordinating the emergency response.

The injured athletes were promptly evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, for first aid and later transferred to another medical facility for further treatment.

The Director General of the National Sports Commission and the Governor later visited the athletes at the hospital, expressing solidarity and overseeing their treatment. The NSC is in constant touch with the Tunisian delegation and assures that athlete safety remains a top priority.
