FIBA U-19 WOMEN’S WORLD CUP JUNIOR D’TIGRESS SETTLE IN CZECH REPUBLIC, NSC RALLIES SUPPORT.

Nigeria’s U-19 women’s basketball team, the Junior D’Tigress, have landed in Brno, Czech Republic, ahead of the FIBA U-19 Women’s Basketball World Cup scheduled to tip off this weekend.

With the backing of the National Sports Commission, the team is set to begin their group stage campaign in Group B, starting with a tough opener against China on Saturday, July 12. Their second group game comes up on Sunday against Canada, while the final group match will be played against Portugal on Tuesday, July 15.

In a press statement, the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, encouraged the team ahead of their first game.

Head Coach Faustina Akhere Juliana leads the squad, supported by Assistant Coaches Nyingifa Atonye and Usuwa Chinedu Stone. The team, described as focused and battle-ready, is determined to make a strong impression on the global stage.

The 16-nation tournament, now in its 16th edition, runs from July 12 to 20 in Brno, promising high-level youth basketball action from around the world.
