IGP PARTNERS MINISTRY OF HOUSING ON AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR POLICE PERSONNEL.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a landmark housing initiative targeted at providing thousands of affordable homes for police officers across the country.

Egbetokun gave the commendation , when he received the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, on a courtesy visit to Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The minister, who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib M.L. Belgore, and other senior officials, said the initiative was designed to address the housing needs of police personnel while enhancing their welfare and operational efficiency. He added that the president had also directed the creation of a National Task Force, to be drawn from relevant ministries and agencies in collaboration with the Police, to safeguard federal assets against encroachment.

According to Dangiwa, encroachment on government lands has slowed down, and in some cases halted, critical national projects. He commended the Police for their professionalism, resilience, and service to the nation, stressing that better welfare would boost their performance.

In response, the IGP described the initiative as a timely intervention to meet one of the most pressing welfare needs of officers. He pledged the unflinching support of the Police towards the implementation of the National Task Force and promised closer collaboration with the Ministry of Housing to protect encroached government lands.

Egbetokun reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to professionalism, excellence, and service delivery, while prioritising the welfare of its officers and men.
