NIGERIA CONGRATULATES THE REPUBLIC OF GUINEA-BISSAU ON ITS INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extends his warmest congratulations to His Excellency, Carlos Pinto Pereira, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, as the nation marks its Independence Anniversary.

This anniversary stands as a proud symbol of the determination, unity, and resilience of the Bissau-Guinean people in their historic struggle for sovereignty and national development. As Nigeria joins in celebrating this significant milestone, we reaffirm our shared commitment to peace, good governance, mutual respect and the enduring bonds of African brotherhood.

Nigeria and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau enjoy longstanding and friendly relations, strengthened by cooperation in trade and investment, security, cultural exchange and regional peacekeeping efforts. Both countries also work closely within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the African Union (AU) and the United Nations, advancing collective security, economic growth, and sustainable development across the continent.

On this special occasion, therefore, Nigeria reiterates its readiness to deepen these valued ties, explore new areas of mutual benefit, and continue working with the Republic of Guinea-Bissau to address regional and global challenges. Once again, we extend our warmest regards to the Government and people of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, with hopes for lasting peace, economic advancement, and shared prosperity.
