OPERATION WHIRL STROKE NEUTRALISES TWO BANDITS IN BENUE

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke, have neutralised two suspected armed bandits during a security operation along the Naka–Makurdi Road in Benue State.

Troops of the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Battalion Nine, operating under Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke, carried out a snap ambush on Monday along the Naka–Ahume–Makurdi Road.

The operation was based on actionable intelligence on the movement of armed bandits in the area.

During the encounter, three suspected armed bandits were sighted. Two were neutralised, while a third suspect escaped with gunshot wounds.

An AK-Forty-Seven rifle, loaded with six rounds of seven-point-six-two millimetre special ammunition, was recovered at the scene.

The Joint Task Force says troops have sustained aggressive patrols in the area to further restrict the activities of criminal elements and enhance security along the route.

The Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Moses Gara, says the outcome reflects the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations and has reaffirmed the task force’s commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal groups across the joint operations area.
