TINUBU EXTENDS CUSTOMS CG’S TENURE.

President Bola Tinubu has approved a one-year tenure extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service,  Bashir Adewale Adeniyi. Adeniyi was due to step down from the position on August 31, 2025.
 
In a statement signed by the special Adviser  to President on Information and strategy Bayo Onanuga reveals that , the extension of tenure will enable the Comptroller general of Customs ADEWALE ADENIYI  to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives of this administration, which includes: “The modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service;
“The implementation of the National Single Window Project, and
“The execution of Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.”
According to Onanuga, Tinubu recognises Adeniyi’s commitment and is “confident that this extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.”
 
Adeniyi, who once served as the Customs National Public Relations Officer, became Deputy Comptroller of Customs in 2012
 
He was appointed  the commandant
of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Abuja. In 2017,  
 
He was appointed the Acting Comptroller general of win 2023 and his appointment was confirmed  As Comptroller general of the in June same year.
