Felicity Ndere, Markudi

All thirteen passengers abducted along the Makurdi–Otukpo road in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State have been successfully rescued.

Security sources confirm that the victims were freed during a coordinated operation by troops of Operation Whirl Stroke, following sustained pressure on the kidnappers.

The rescued passengers are reported to be in safe condition, although details surrounding the rescue operation are yet to be fully disclosed.

At the Benue State Government House, officials are awaiting a formal briefing to provide further insight into the operation.

The incident had sparked widespread concern, particularly as many of the victims were believed to be young travelers, prompting renewed calls for enhanced security along the Makurdi–Otukpo corridor.

Authorities say further updates will be made available after the official briefing.
