CCC COMMENDS KEYAMO’S HANDLING OF AVIATION SECTOR DISPUTES.

The Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC) has commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, for what it described as a “measured and strategic” intervention in resolving recent disputes that stirred public attention in the aviation sector.

The disputes, which involved Ms. Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Airline, as well as Fuji music star, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (popularly known as Kwam 1) and ValueJet personnel, had raised concerns over strained relations between passengers and airline operators.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Major General Chris Olukolade (rtd), the CCC praised the Minister’s role in facilitating the withdrawal of criminal complaints, reducing penalties, and restoring operating privileges, while also insisting on retraining for both aviation personnel and airline staff.

“These measures, if fully implemented, will not only enhance service culture but also build public confidence in the sector’s capacity to manage disputes fairly and professionally,” the CCC said.

The organisation further noted that the Minister’s transparency in outlining facts, acknowledging shared culpability, and detailing corrective steps helped to ease tensions and prevent further media escalation.

It urged aviation stakeholders to leverage the resolution as a foundation for promoting mutual respect, cooperation, and improved service standards across Nigeria’s airports.

The CCC also stressed that consistent enforcement of the agreed measures, supported by regular public updates, could make the intervention a model for managing crises in other critical sectors.
