OIL FIRMS REJECT $25.5M DEBT CLAIMS, SAY DISPUTE UNDER ARBITRATION

Green Energy International Limited (GEIL) and Lekoil Nigeria Limited have pushed back on media reports linking them to a $25.5 million debt, saying the matter is a contractual dispute currently under arbitration.

In a statement on Tuesday, GEIL’s Corporate Communications unit clarified that the companies are already pursuing legal and arbitral remedies. “The sums cited in some reports are unliquidated and remain under review and audit as per our contractual agreements,” the statement said.

The firms noted that prior to recent court filings, they had already initiated proceedings at the Federal High Court (Suit No. FHC/L/CS/225/26, Feb 6, 2026), including an application for an anti-suit injunction to protect the agreed arbitration process.

“These processes were duly filed and served before the subsequent court proceedings referenced in media reports. As the matter is under active judicial and arbitral consideration, it would be inappropriate to comment further,” the statement added.

GEIL and Lekoil emphasized that operations continue safely and without disruption. They also reserved all rights regarding any inaccurate or defamatory reports.
