In a proactive move to address the pressing issue of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), in the FCT, the Mandate Secretary of the Women and Children Affairs Secretariat FCTA, Adebayo Benjamins-Laniyi, has called upon residents to promptly report all cases of GBV, for swift intervention.

This came to light during an engaging session with media personnel and on-air personalities as part of the preparatory activities for the upcoming 16 Days of Activism campaign.

Benjamins-Laniyi, underscored the critical importance of reporting GBV cases, emphasizing the existence of intervention mechanisms specifically designed to support survivors.

The Mandate Secretary expressed gratitude for the collaboration with media professionals, recognizing their pivotal role in raising awareness and fostering a community-wide response to GBV.

The forthcoming 16 Days of Activism is poised to be a pivotal period, marked by a series of activities aimed at raising awareness, advocating for policy changes, and fostering community engagement to end gender-based violence.

These activities include a walk on the 25th of November, with somany other activities, across the six area Councils, and will end with an Orange Run and Fesitval on the 9th of December.
