PRESIDENT TINUBU RESHUFFLES SERVICE CHIEFS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved changes in the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces as part of efforts to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.

In the new appointments, General Olufemi Oluyede replaces General Christopher Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff. Major-General W. Shaibu has been named the new Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke assumes office as the Chief of Air Staff. The new Chief of Naval Staff is Rear Admiral I. Abbas.

The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.

President Tinubu, who also serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed deep appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and other departing Service Chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership.

He urged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating greater professionalism, vigilance, and unity in the discharge of their duties.

All appointments take immediate effect.
